Pastor Philip Philip

I’m Philip K. Philip and I’m a student of Wesley Seminary working on my Master of Divinity.

I’m originally from India, immigrated to Canada and then moved to the US about 15 years ago. When I relocated to the US, my only desire was to raise a God-fearing family, have a nice home and lead a quiet life. While life was going well for me, tragedy struck me when my 13 year old son passed away on May 1, 2013. I felt that God’s word had failed me, and I began to doubt the very existence of God. After all, how can a good God allow bad things to happen to good people? I felt that Jesus was just a mythical character, and that the Bible was just a fairy tale with no practical value in our contemporary world. And so, I decided to step out of Christianity and become an atheist.  However, an in-person encounter with our Lord Jesus in my living room brought me back to the reality of Christ and the reality of His word. Since that encounter 8 years ago, the Lord has told me to seek the revelation knowledge to His word and walk in His wisdom to influence people for Christ.

In terms of my calling in life, God has called me to influence the influencers in the global marketplace – ministering to people in corporate America as well as ministering to those incarcerated at Chicago prisons and to those recovering from addictions. I am also a bi-vocational pastor where I am honored to shepherd a thriving Indian community church in one of the Northwest Chicago suburbs.

I really had no desire to go to seminary. And even though there are amazing seminaries in Chicago, God impressed upon my heart to choose Wesley Seminary.

Wesley is top notch for their seminary program which combines scripture with practicality making God’s word relevant and applicable. They have amazing faculty and the course curriculum continues to evolve to stay current with our ongoing spiritual and practical needs.
